  • Valid work permit obtained through Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA)
  • A valid work permit is not required in case:
    • Applicants have an LMIA exempt occupation
    • Applicants have a post-graduation work permit:
      • Status of temporary resident in Canada
      • Work in an occupation that is accepted by AINP
      • Work experience for the job you want to apply
      • Language test results that must score at least 5 for CLB and NCLC (in some cases 7 is also required)
      • The language skill results must be from IELTS/CELPIP/TEF
      • Educational certificate from a post-secondary institution

      • A diploma for two years

      • An undergraduate/ graduate degree
      • Full-time work experience of 12 months within 18 months in Alberta province

      • Full-time work experience of 24 months within 30 months in Canada

Engineering Occupations Category


  • Display of intention to work full-time and settle in Alberta
  • Must be working for an employer in Alberta presently
  • Work for at least 2 years with an employer in Alberta
  • Educational qualification or experience in related occupations ( drafter, designer, and engineer)

Compulsory and Optional Trades Category

  • Valid work permit while staying in Alberta
  • Display of intention to work full-time
  • Must be working for an employer in Alberta while filing the application
  • Experience of working in Alberta for at least six months within the past three years
  • Alberta Qualification Certificate or Trade Certificate in any eligible optional or compulsory trade

The eligibility criteria for the employer in the Skilled Worker Category are:
  • The employment offer must meet the employment standards as set by the Alberta government
  • The employer must be registered in Canada
  • The job must fall under the NOC skill level A, B or 0
  • The employment offer must have a valid Labor Market Impact Assessment (LMAI).
  • The employer must show an effort to recruit from Canada and Alberta before accepting applicants that do not live in Alberta.
  • Must possess a valid post-graduate work permit
  • Must display the intention to live and work in Alberta Province
  • Must submit language proficiency tests (if you are applying for a NOC skill level C occupation)
  • Must graduate with a diploma, certificate, or degree under registered and eligible educational institutions in either Alberta or within Canada (The course must at least be for one year)

  • The job offer must be permanent and full-time
