  • Producers Alliance for Cinema and Television (for films and television)

What are the eligibility criteria to get a Global Talent Visa?

An individual will be considered as an eligible applicant when he/she has any of the following:

  • An individual fellowship
  • A job offer as a researcher or senior academic (for example professor or reader at a university)
  • A research grant approved by UK Research and Innovation (UKRI)

Senior appointments:

  • If someone has already worked in the UK in senior professions, the endorsement becomes fast track. Certain requirements are to be met.
  • The whole process is administered by the British Academy, Royal Society, and the LikeRoyal Academy of Engineering.

Fellowship:

  • Individuals can get fast track endorsements with fellowships from approved organizations.

Endorsed funders:

What are the documents needed for a Global Talent Visa?

Here’s a list of Important Documents you need for your chosen pathway:

  • To get a Global Talent Visa by the Senior Appointment program, you need a Statement of Assurance or Guarantee from the HR of your employing organization.
  • Submit a copy of a valid award letter for applying by the Individual fellowship Program.
  • For a UK research grant issued by an endorsed funder, you need to submit the award letter and the Statement of Guarantee by the employing institute.

There are 2 steps for applying for a Global Talent Visa.

This is the first step towards getting your Global Talent Visa. The specific routes have been mentioned earlier in this content. After this, you will be notified about your endorsement from the Home Office.
Once the authorizing body endorses your Phase 1 application, you can apply for a visa on GOV.UK. Both steps are of equal importance. However, in the second stage, the authorizing bodies are not involved.

The processing time for the Global Talent Visa (GTV) usually varies between 4 weeks to 8 weeks. The processing time is faster than the Exceptional Talent Visa, belonging to the Tier 1 visa.

The Global Talent Independent program has been held up as the fastest way to get a permanent visa in Australia. Australian permanent visa processing times can often be more than 12 months, sometimes up to almost 2 years. The GTI visa has one of the fastest processing times of all Australian permanent visas.
At the Law Council's Immigration Law Conference on 20 March 2020, representatives from the Department of Home Affairs stated that applications under the GTI program are being given priority processing. Processing times vary from 2 day to 2 months with many being decided in one to two weeks!
Minister for Immigration, Citizenship, Migrant Services and Multicultural Affairs David Coleman has also signed Ministerial Direction no 85 in November 2019. Direction no. 85 enables the Department of Home Affairs to give priority processing for the Distinguished Talent cohort (subclasses 124 and 858) to “support the responsive processing of applicants that are identified as highly desirable by Government.”
The GTI program uses the Distinguished Talent subclass 858 and subclass 124 visas, but provides a new pathway to these by invitation.
